CEEF Celebrates Summer Readers!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in our Summer Read-a-Thon!

Did you spend the summer with Jack & Annie, the Guadians of Ga’Hoole, Junie B. Jones or Harry Potter? We salute you for activating your reading powers!

Join us on Tuesday 9/20 as we celebrate our readers, award prizes and draw the lucky iPad 2 WINNER.

Daffy Dave – Live children’s entertainer – will also be there with jokes, music and magic!

All CUSD students and family welcome! You do not have to be a Summer Read-a-Thon registrant, just come join the fun.

What is the Great Schools Summer Read-a-Thon?

The Read-a-Thon is a great way for CUSD students (grades K-8) to have fun reading over the summer while raising money to support excellent schools. The Read-a-Thon runs through the 2011 Summer and closes August 31, 2011.

How will Read-a-Thon funds be used by CEEF?

All proceeds from the Great Schools Read-a-Thon will be donated to CUSD to maintain classroom excellence and support great schools.

How do I register?

Students and parents can register online by providing the following information: name, grade level during 2010-11, school during 2010-11, parent name, and parent contact information (email). Registration will remain open throughout the summer.

What are the sponsorship guidelines?

Anyone can sponsor a Super Reader! You can share the fun and help increase your donation by seeking sponsorships from your family, friends, and neighbors.

Sponsorship payments may be made online or mailed/delivered to CEEF at 10301 Vista Drive, Cupertino, CA 95014. Please make checks payable to CEEF.

Which books count?

All books count! Students are encouraged to read the books that are of interest to them. Books read aloud to younger children also count towards participation.

Will there be prizes?

Yes! All CUSD students who meet a minimum $10 sponsorship by August 31, 2011 will be entered in the prize drawings. The grand prize drawing will be for an Apple iPad2; other drawings for other prizes will award one student per grade from each school a prize. Limit one prize per student; prize winners will be notified by September 15. In addition, every school that reaches the 60% participation threshold will receive a cool school party at the beginning of the 2011-12 school year.

Mahalo nui loa!

Thank you to the 480 guests, volunteers, and friends who helped to honor CUSD’s Teachers of the Year and make ‘An Evening of Aloha’ a success for our students. As a result of our community’s generosity, each of the district’s 25 school sites will be granted $3,000 for music, arts, and technology programs.

Through the Fund-A-Need portion of the evening we also raised $12,000 – in five minutes! – to support the work of the district’s Technology Professional Development Team. To learn more about exciting technology programs in our classrooms, please play the video!
